FAQ

1. Are you licensed and insured in Ontario?
Yes. We are fully licensed by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) and carry
comprehensive liability insurance, including WSIB (Workplace Safety and
Insurance Board) coverage for all employees and subcontractors.
2. Do you offer ESA inspection and permit services?
Yes. We pull all required permits and coordinate inspections with the Electrical
Safety Authority to ensure full code compliance under the Ontario Electrical
Safety Code (OESC).
3. What does it mean to be “code compliant”?
Being code compliant means our work adheres to the Canadian Electrical Code,
the Ontario Building Code, and all local municipal bylaws. This ensures safety,
legality, and insurance compatibility.
4. What safety standards do you follow on the job site?
We strictly follow:
* CSA Group standards for components and systems
* Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act
* WSIB regulations
* Mandatory lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
* Regular safety training and hazard assessments
5. Do you do emergency or after-hours service?
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service for critical issues like power outages,
burning smells, breaker failure, or exposed wires.
6. Can you install EV chargers at my business?
Yes. We are experienced in residential and commercial EVSE (Electric Vehicle
Supply Equipment) installations, and ensure compliance with ESA regulations and
utility requirements (e.g., Hydro One, Utilities Kingston).
7. Do you offer energy efficiency consultations?
Yes. We provide audits and consulting on LED lighting, smart controls, energy-
saving appliances, and Power Factor Correction (PFC) for commercial clients.
8. Are your electricians certified?
All of our electricians are licensed through the Ontario College of Trades, and we
only use certified Red Seal electricians on our projects.
9. What’s the difference between a breaker and a fuse?
*A circuit breaker is a reusable safety switch that protects against overloads.
* A fuse is a one-time use safety device that melts when overloaded.
Breakers are safer and easier to maintain, and are required in most modern
installations.
10. Do you provide warranties?
Yes. We offer a 1-year workmanship warranty, and all installed components are
covered by manufacturer warranties. Extended maintenance contracts are also
available.
11. Do you subcontract work?
It is our preference to perform all work with our in-house team; however, for some
projects, it may require the use of sub-trades of sub-contractors. We reserve the
rights to subcontract whenever and wherever necessary; however, doing so will not
release us from responsibility of duty as set out in our Terms of Service or our
Master Services Agreement. All subcontractors carry WSIB, liability insurance, and
must meet our strict quality and safety standards.
12. What is an arc fault and how can I protect my home from it?
An arc fault is a dangerous electrical discharge that can cause fires. We install
AFCIs (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters) as required by the Ontario Electrical Safety
Code to protect circuits in bedrooms, living rooms, and other dry areas.
13. What is load calculation and why does it matter?
A load calculation determines how much electrical demand your building can
handle. This is critical before adding new appliances, HVAC, or EV chargers. We
perform certified load calculations to avoid overloading circuits or panels.
14. Do you provide electrical inspections before real estate purchases or residency?
Yes. Our pre-purchase electrical inspections help buyers and leaseholders
identify code violations, outdated wiring, or safety hazards before closing a sale.
Reports are ESA-compliant and formatted for insurance and legal use.
15. Can you install backup generators or battery systems?
Yes. We install standby generators and battery storage systems (e.g., Tesla
Powerwall) with automatic transfer switches (ATS), ensuring seamless power
during outages. All work is CSA-certified and ESA-approved.
16. What is the difference between a journey person and an apprentice electrician?
*A journeyperson is a fully licensed electrician.
* An apprentice is in training under direct supervision.
Both follow Ontario’s Skilled Trades certification pathway, and apprentices
never work unsupervised on critical tasks.

17. Do you offer services for commercial buildings and multi-unit dwellings?
Yes. We service retail, office, condo, and industrial properties. This includes:
*Tenant fit-outs
* Fire alarm and emergency lighting
* Three-phase power installations
* Service upgrades
All work complies with the Ontario Fire Code and Building Code Act.
18.What should I do during an electrical emergency?
1. Shut off power at the main breaker if safe to do so
2. Evacuate if there’s fire or smoke
3. Call 911 if there’s danger
4. Contact us for 24/7 emergency service
NEVER touch water near exposed wiring or attempt DIY fixes.
19. What are tamper-resistant receptacles (TRRs) and are they mandatory?
TRRs are required by code in dwellings with children. They prevent objects from
being inserted into outlets and are standard in new residential builds across Ontario.
20. Can you provide electrical system documentation for insurance or compliance purposes?
Yes. We generate load schedules, one-line diagrams, as-built drawings, and
ESA inspection reports, often required by insurance companies, municipal
inspectors, and project managers.
21. What is a thermal imaging scan and why is it useful?
A thermal imaging scan detects overheating circuits, loose connections, and failing
breakers before they fail. It's a non-invasive method used in preventive
maintenance, especially for commercial and industrial sites.
22. What areas do you serve outside of Kingston?

*Kingston
* Gananoque
